Father,
Thank you that in a world of despair,

Look for the Christ in those you meet.
Recognise love among brothers and sisters.
Value the kindness of those who serve you.
See all humanity as the creation of God.

Father God, help me to believe
that I am precious and valuable to you.
I will choose to believe that you are bringing hope into my heart this day, so that I will have more hope tonight when I go to bed than when I got up this morning.
Father God, I will realise that hope has a name:
Jesus.

May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word.

Some mornings Lord I’m afraid to turn on the news or read the papers.
Some mornings I’d rather ignore what is happening in the world.
And yet you call us to see what’s around with your eyes, and to love with your kind of love.
On this new day, Lord, help me to have hope.
Help me to discover ways of finding peace in my own life,
and give me the courage to reach out to others with compassion and love. Amen.

When our thirst has led us to seek streams of living water…thank you God.
When our failing strength has taught us to lay down what we need not carry… thank you God.
When the heat of the sun has forced us to find protection and shelter in you… thank you God.
Where our loneliness has drawn us to discover our soul’s true life and love in you… thank you God.

Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. Hebrews 11:1

As God’s dear children we will only learn to imitate his voice – together.

As God’s dear children we will only learn to imitate his gentleness, her passion, his justice, her forgiveness, his mercy, her patience – together.
So together, may we learn to walk light in darkness as Christ walked.
May we learn to love as Christ loved.
And may we learn to give as Christ gave himself for us,
that all things be brought together.
