The Church of England is woven into the fabric of our country through the parish church system. Every person in the country comes under the care of a Bishop and a Vicar/Rector.
There are 19 parishes in the Blackmore Vale most of which cover small rural communities. We recognise there is greater strength in working together and so have committed ourselves to a Pilgrim Covenant.
Founded in 1921 the Friary is home to the Franciscan Brothers of the Society of St Francis and other men and women who make up the Hilfield Friary Community. It is a place of welcome, peace, sustainability and reconciliation.
Diocese of Salisbury
Our parishes are part of a bigger administrative area called the Diocese of Salisbury. The cathedral is in Salisbury and the Diocese is led by Bishop Nicholas.

Shillingstone Church Centre
The Centre is used by Holy Rood church to enable its mission and community outreach. The Centre is available for hire and a Post Office is available Tuesday and Thursday 1.30pm – 3.30pm.
Sarum College is an ecumenical centre for Christian study and research where their passion is learning that nourishes the human spirit. Welcoming people of all faiths and none, they offer space and time for enquiring minds to grow in wisdom and courage.
Messy church is a way of being church for families involving fun. It is a church, not a craft club, that helps people encounter Jesus as Lord and Saviour. Its values are about being Christ-centred, for all ages, based on creativity, hospitality and celebration.

This is a charity that helps preserve Christian churches and chapels. It has raised over £1million and supports many local churches.
