After the granting of the faculty for the re-ordering of St Andrew’s Church, the PCC has decided to go ahead with the first stage which is to remove the pine Victorian pews and replace them with chairs.

By introducing flexible seating we make the church more inclusive. Wheelchair and pushchair users can make a choice as to where they sit and make sure that they are fully part of the congregation rather than being stuck at the back or in a side aisle. The Church has many wheelchair and pushchair users especially at weddings, baptisms and funerals. These events are mostly attended by non-church goers and to find an inclusive and welcoming space makes their experience of church a really positive one.

The picture shows some of the ways in which the chairs can be arranged showing the flexibilty that can be achieved.
